Entertainment as Shelter; The evolution of Man and Property

As primitive man evolved, there was little rest without shelter; if only a cave or a tree.

With shelter, man could rest and recuperate and get ready for the next day, tne next hunt, the next gathering of food and be prepared to defend himslef and his family and tribe.

An important part of this recuperation was mental relaxation in the form of leisure distraction that such shelter allowed.

True, the strenght in numbers of a family and tribe also helped make leisure time possible.

Leisure and entertainment are very much wrapped up in shelter.

People enjoy visiting each other's shelter; admiring them or not. Being entertained by them.

Entertained by the structure, design, layout, decore; whether an animal head on the wall or a rug on the floor.

Shelter also quickly became a part of entertainment. Not only could man entertain himself while being sheltered, but his shelter became entertainment.

So, today, we are entertained by looking at each other's shelter in person, print and on the web.

In Videos and Photos and in person.

We are entertained in shelter, and we are Sheltered by the distractions of entertainment.

We take refuge in the escape of entertainment, we lose ourselves for a time while being entertiained; playing a game, reading a book,  watching a  video.

We lose ourselves and are sheltered from our everyday worlds and this is also a form of rest and recuperation.

Momentarily we forget our everyday preoccupation with the hunt for food and shelter and the defense of ourselves and our group.

Entertainment is also a form of shelter, but is only possible because of shelter.

Our homes protect us, entertain us and allow us to be entertained.

Homes and Properties are entertainment in themselves. We enjoy exploring the homes of others and on Global viewr, we can be entertained by virtually visiting many kinds of homes and shelter all over the World.

We can explore other cultures and customs in shelter and lifestyles.

This exploration fosters understanding and brings us closer together though we are across the Globe.

None of us will ever get to visit all the places we can explore on Global viewr, but we can feel as if we have been there and we can form new friends, acquaintances and colleagues anywhere in the World through viewr.
